Before You Leave
A few things you may wish to know about the Institute and its work.
The Society exists to encourage a deeper and more active devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, especially through the Rosary, the Brown Scapular, and the Miraculous Medal, while also fostering prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory. We function as an informal fellowship of volunteers who share a regular routine of prayer and work. We are neither a religious order nor a formal membership organization; each volunteer freely chooses to take part in this common daily routine.
Our devotion to the Holy Souls flows naturally from our devotion to Our Lady. As their mother and Queen, she takes a special interest in those undergoing the sufferings of Purgatory, where they satisfy the temporal punishment remaining for sins whose guilt has already been forgiven. These souls can no longer obtain relief through new merits of their own, but God allows our prayers and sacrifices to assist them. Because Our Lady desires their deliverance, we remember these helpless souls and join our prayers to her maternal intercession.
No. The Society does not accept Mass stipends or arrange for Masses to be offered. Instead, we provide links to established Catholic associations and shrines that accept intentions online or by mail. You may choose one of these organizations and submit your intention and offering directly to it.
No. The Society does not organize or lead pilgrimages. We help visitors find established Catholic pilgrimage organizations that handle the itinerary and practical arrangements and often provide a priest for daily Mass. You can review the organizations presented in our Pilgrimage section and contact the provider directly.
Every purchase from our shop helps support the Society and continue its work. You can also support us by remembering the Institute and its volunteers in your prayers or by including us among your prayer or Mass intentions.
